How do we take care of the environment?

Solar sistem

At Coiba House, we use a solar energy system that supplies part of our operations with clean, renewable power. This initiative reduces our reliance on conventional energy sources, lowers our carbon footprint, and reinforces our commitment to sustainability and environmental protection in Santa Catalina. By choosing Coiba House, guests support a responsible tourism model that promotes efficient resource use and the conservation of the natural environment.

biodigester system

Coiba House features a proven biological wastewater treatment system that incorporates a buffering mechanism designed to absorb sudden variations in incoming flow. The treatment process is carried out without the use of chemicals at any stage, ensuring efficient, sustainable, and environmentally responsible management of the wastewater generated by the establishment’s activities. This system represents one of the cleanest and most suitable alternatives for protecting the natural environment.

Coiba House worked jointly with EVG Group to install its biodigester system, ensuring compliance with technical, operational, and environmental standards. This collaboration enabled the implementation of an efficient and sustainable solution for wastewater treatment, aligned with the establishment’s environmental management practices.

filtered water for our guests

Coiba House implements a policy of providing filtered drinking water to its guests through designated refill stations within the premises. The primary objective of this initiative is to reduce the consumption of bottled water and, consequently, minimize the generation of single-use plastic waste. By offering a safe and accessible alternative, the company promotes responsible resource use, encourages the reuse of containers, and contributes to mitigating the environmental impact associated with the production, transportation, and final disposal of plastic bottles.

towel reuse program

Coiba House implements a towel reuse program that encourages guests to reuse their towels for more than one day, thereby reducing water and energy consumption associated with frequent laundering, as well as minimizing the use of paper hand towels. This initiative supports efficient resource use and reinforces the establishment’s commitment to sustainable environmental practices
